Dollars on Ice is a group of 6 high schoolers brought together by the Asheville music school. They play a variety of genres, focusing on but not limited to classic and funk rock. With several members being multi- instrumentalists it allows them to expand their sonic spectrum beyond what you’re used to with rock. They’ve been known to cover everything from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Johnny Cash to Herbie Hancock. They have played gigs at Twisted Laurel downtown, the Veterans Restoration Quarters and the Salvage Station twice, including at Secret Agent 23 skidoo’s “Big Secret” festival where 23 Skidoo himself sat in with the band for a song, and multiple members sat in for jams with the likes of Empire Strikes Brass, Snake Oil Medicine Show and 23 Skidoo.
