Sit A Spell | Old Time Session

Come Sit a Spell — a weekly, open jam music session series hosted by Warren Wilson College!

Friday, April 17th we welcome Clarke Williams hosting an Old Time session from 6:00-8:00!

Musicians of all levels are welcome to bring instruments and join the circle, while community members are invited to come listen and enjoy an evening of traditional music. Musical genres will rotate weekly, highlighting a variety of traditions and styles.$100 from each weekly session will be donated to the Warren Wilson Music Scholarship Fund, which provides both recognition and financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in Warren Wilson College who are deserving of funds to meet their necessary college expenses.

 

Clarke Williams:

Clarke Williams is a multi-instrumentalist based in Marshall, NC. While comfortable in a variety of styles, he has a strong focus on the musical traditions of Western NC. He has won awards and recognition for his fiddle, banjo and guitar playing at festivals and fiddlers conventions across the Southeast. Clarke has performed nationally and internationally, in bands such as Jenny and the Hog Drovers (with Phil Jamison), the Georgia Horseshoes and the French Broadcasters. Clarke is currently on the faculty at Warren Wilson College, where he teaches traditional music.  In teaching, Clarke emphasizes developing musical intuition, active listening skills, and group ‘jam’ skills.
